The Financial Analyst will assist the Accounting Supervisor and Controller with several operational finance objectives. The Financial Analyst analyzes financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data. Once analysis is complete, the Financial Analyst recommends actions and strategies to correct and improve current processes.
*Our staff have mobilized back to the office; candidates will need to be available to work in our Red Deer office full-time.

What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Billings, Collections, Payroll, and other staff to ensure revenue and costs are accounted for in the proper period and coded to the proper accounts.
- Provide expertise and guidance by being a subject matter expert in MS Dynamics 365.
- Develop and maintain MS Dynamics 365 reports and posting setup.
- Assist Payroll by creating payroll entries for each pay period.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations; create entries for transactions outside the normal collections/payments cycle.
- Prepare monthly cash forecasts.
- Process all capital AFE requests and create all journal entries related to fixed assets.
- Provide relevant and timely sales tax information to the Corporate Tax department.
- Ensure all accruals, corrections, and other month-end journal entries have been created.
- Prepare monthly allocation entries for more accurate monthly reporting.
- Explore and recommend procedures to improve existing accounting processes for smoother and more efficient operational functions.
- Analyze and reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly.
- Review and maintain rig review guidelines; ensuring any relevant changes to policies/procedures are properly communicated.
- Review financial statements monthly for accuracy, completeness, and improvement opportunities.
- Synthesize, organize, and interpret data by creating spreadsheets and graphs of the financial statements in Excel as required.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reporting packages to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Assist the Accounting Supervisor and Controller in completing year-end financial and tax reporting packages.
- Liaise with KPMG auditors to ensure meeting SOX requirements and to provide any documentation requested during their testing period.
- Assist the Internal Auditor with maintaining internal controls within the MS Dynamics 365.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller or the Accounting Supervisor.
What You'll Bring:
- 3+ years of business finance or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Strong analytical skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- High level of leadership capabilities: self-direct work
- Strong communication skills: verbal and written
- Ability to collect, interpret, extract, and present data
- ERP experience (MS Dynamics, SAP, Oracle or similar programs)
- Ability to keep up and adapt with constant change
- Keen to learn and implement new technology
- Proficient in Financial reporting modeling techniques
- High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
